Furniture
The Wood
Local wood
Hopefully...
what has been made
will last for as long as it takes
for a tree to grow
to replace
what has been worn out
Sofa
Maple and walnut.
EASY CHAIR

CABINET
Figured maple, walnut, and birch

COFFEE TABLE
Spalted maple and walnut
SIDE TABLE
The table is constructed so that if the four corner pins are removed the entire table can be disassembled
CEDAR TABLE
Made from a single slab
SPEAKERS
MDF with voice coil alignment
BOOK CASE
Cedar and fir
BATHROOM
Slate walls and floors with steam shower. Maple wash stand with deer antler details.
WOODEN CLOCK
Local serpentine as weights. The gears are carved into different motivs: a dragon whose spine slowly evolves into the teeth of the gear, a sun symbol, a lotus symbol
FRUIT BOWL
The frog a symbol of bounty
SPOON REPLACEMENT
|
LADLE
A goose taking off
DRAKSLINGA
An old nordic symbol to demarcate the inner part of the house from the outside. A crime committed past the line of the Drakslinga would be harshly punished...no weapons past this line.
HEADBOARD BED
Carving inspired by sand patterns after low tide
BEE HIVE
Honey and wax. Straps are for bears (perhaps a little too optimistic)
SHELL FOSSIL
Found out on the prairies (Saskatchewan). The stand was carved in my interpretation of the anthroposophical style
FIGURED MAPLE FIREWOOD SCULPTURE
A friend of mine was given a load of logs and only after it was bucked up and the spitting started did he find out that the wood was figured.
DOOR
Figured maple, cedar, walnut
WASH CLOSET
Japenese styled air vent
Blue glass for a ship's deck
SHOE BOX
MY SMITHERY
A REAL SMITHERY
A working smithery I stumbled into in Sweden
KNIVES
The steel for this knife came from the sled runners from an old horse-drawn winter sled. The steel is kept cold by the ice and snow while it is constantly being hammered against cobblestones (for decades)and eventually producing an excellent knife steel, that is nowadays, extremely rare.
The knife is resting on home grown, home spun and hand woven linen from late 1800
Damiscus steel and purple heart handle

4 Chairs:
all the same and all different

HUNTING AND COLLECTING JADE AROUND LILOET, BRITISH COLUMBIA
LAMPS
Made from thin sliced jade and red cedar
A warm fire and jade lamps glowing in the window to welcome you home.
KITCHEN RENOVATIONS
About one third of the drawers
MAPLE TABLE
Commissioned work paid with love (family)
It was delivered to LA but because of the very dry air there, it had to go through a special kiln drying to get it to the low moisture levels needed
TEA BOX
How to find your way back home when you are from the north country
SPALTING FERMATATION
I am experimenting with fungal growth in wood. Burying wood and allowing the fungus to grow in it. Different fungus produce different colours and I am hoping by collecting the different coloured areas I will then be able to seed wood to produce different patterns.
Whoops
URN
For a loved one
GABLE ROOF
FOREST BATHING
CARVINGS
The shining moon and the black and white thunderbird are my carvings, the other two are local native artists
BAND SAW
Found in an abandoned shed. Sure the price is right.
Ah...the things you see when you don't have your chain saw.

JEWELRY BOX
URN
Commissioned.
Jade and figured maple
FIREPLACE
There was a lot of design time spent on this (weeks). The goal was to have no discernable patterns produced by the tile placement and yet keep the balance from right to left sides
SPRINTER VAN BUILD
On the run in the Baja, Mexico
The 'road' to Aqua Verde. Even here I 'found' a hidden tope.

LANTERN: Lemon Cedar, Walnut, Holly accents, and Jade from a stream bed in Liloet area

Maple Bed and Hand Woven Linen
The bed was designed for reading, the back shelf is the perfect height for resting a pillow on and getting right angle for head.
